DLT Innovation in Singapore's Universities to be nurtured by China's Leading Digital Banks

To foster Blockchain innovation for the Singaporean Universities, China’s leading digital bank- WeBank has partnered with OpenNodes. OpenNodes is basically a distributed ledger technology platform developed by Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority.

With this new partnership, WeBank aims to provide the FISCO BCOS blockchain platform to Singaporean academics for innovating and building on top of it.

All the innovations produced through the FISCO BCOS initiatives are made available as open-source, as a requirement of participation in the program. This program is hoped to enhance research into the blockchain applications form the finance and supply chain sectors.

 

DLT development in Singapore to be supported by WeBank

There are many students from Universities like Singapore University of Technology, Singapore Management University, and Nanyang Technological university that are expected to participate in the formation with the FISCO BCOS.

Workshops and Hackathons will be held and hosted by both WeBank and OpenNodes for the awareness and engagement with the platform and support the development from the initiative.

 

WeBank is integrating DAML onto FISCO BCOS

An open-source blockchain-based platform, FISCO BCOS was developed by the nonprofit FISCO (Financial Blockchain Shenzhen Consortium,), to nurture DLT research and innovation through collabs & partnerships

Contributions from about 20 top Chinese financial technology firms were seen for the platform’s development and was established during 2016, before being open-sourced the next year. FISCO’s membership has now grown to over 100, including leading names like Tencent, Huawei, and WeBank.

Last month it was announced by WeBank that they would integrate the smart contract language DAML with the FISCO BCOS platform.
