Auburn softball (34-23) won two comeback games on Saturday at JoAnne Graf Field to survive elimination and advance to their third consecutive Regional final. The Tigers defeated Robert Morris (30-18) 11-3 and South Florida (44-16-1) 7-5 in extra innings.
Auburn’s offense exploded early against Robert Morris, scoring five runs in the second inning and six more in the fifth to secure the win by run rule. AnnaLea Adams had three hits, including a two-run homer, and drove in five runs. She also became just the fourth Auburn freshman to hit 10 or more home runs in her debut season. KK McCrary and Anna Wohlers contributed with key triples, while SJ Geurin pitched three scoreless innings to earn the win.
In the night game against South Florida, Auburn took an early lead but fell behind 4-3 after the Bulls scored three runs in the third inning. The Tigers tied the game in the fifth inning, pushing the contest into extra innings. Auburn loaded the bases with one out in the eighth and scored three runs to take a 7-4 lead. South Florida hit a solo home run but Auburn closer SJ Geurin retired the final three batters to secure the win and keep Auburn alive in the tournament.
Geurin pitched nine innings in relief across both games, allowing only one run, striking out eight, and improving her season record to 22 wins. Abbey Smith led the team with a strong batting performance, scoring two runs and maintaining a high on-base percentage.
On Sunday, Auburn will face No. 5 Florida State at 11 a.m. CT in the Regional final on ESPN+. The Tigers must defeat Florida State twice to advance to the Super Regional round. Further television coverage will be announced after Saturday’s postseason contests.
These wins mark Auburn’s 22nd come-from-behind victory this season, the highest in the nation. The team’s resilience and clutch hitting have been key to extending their postseason run.
